President's Corner - Mar 2006

The requirement that all members read the Member Guidebook and complete the questionnaire on the back of the Renewal Applications has inspired considerable discussion.  First, I assure you I was born of woman and not canine and my parents were married in 1940 and I was not born until 1946.   I am encouraged to report that after the initial salutation everyone without exception has agreed that the review of the Guidebook has been beneficial.  The required review of the Guidebook for membership renewal should be required every third or fourth year.  An annual requirement is not warranted.    You must complete the back of the application before your membership renewal application will be accepted and processed.  Your answers on the back of the application will NOT BE GRADED.

On another topic.  We have had two vehicles try to occupy the same space on the range.  The accident was in the parking area but it is a reminder to drive slowly and be safe.

This month completes two years that I have had the pleasure of serving as President of the Zia Rifle and Pistol Club.  Listed below are the accomplishments of Zia during the last two years.  Something surely has been omitted or misstated but it is important to recognize the efforts of the Officers, Board Members, Instructors and General Members who make Zia work.   Zia does not just happen.  I want to express my appreciation to everyone who donates the time and contributes their energy and ideas to make Zia a successful organization.  A special thanks to our outgoing Treasurer and Secretary, Rod Cassidy and Jerry Bridges.
