There is an excellent opportunity to purchase land for a shooting range! This land is approximately 40 miles from the Big-I and all but one mile is on a high-speed paved road. The land is approximately 15 miles west of I-25 off on route 6 and then 1 mile on a very good dirt road.

There are 1-3/4 sections of land totaling 1120 acres. The asking price is $500 per acre for a total of $560,000. The partial section has power on it. There are large hills on the land (about 300 feet high) with lots of natural berms, yet there is plenty of flat area for buildings, roads and parking.  There are natural ranges for rifle, pistol and shotgun, out to 1000 yards. This land is in an excellent location with easy access. For major matches, you are a 15-minute drive from hotels and restaurants. After looking at land for quite some time, this is by far the best location.

In order to purchase land, funds are needed. These funds would take to form of some sort of loan or partnership and would use the land as collateral. The funds would be given in $500 increments. A person could give one or more $500 amounts. These funds would be paid back over time, but it would be some time before the club could raise the capital to start paying everyone back.

Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of time to determine if we have the support to purchase the land because there are other interested parties.  Please indicate of you are willing to loan money to purchase land for a shooting range. If there is enough interest, there will be numerous meetings and discussions to determine the best structure for getting the funds and paying them back.

This is the best future we can build for the shooting sports. By owning our own land, we can better control our destiny. If the area gets developed, we now have valuable land to sell and locate elsewhere, if need be. We have the stability we need to build a great facility. Land is not getting any cheaper and they are not making any more of it. Land of any size within a couple of hours of Albuquerque is very hard to get, and much of it is far from a paved road with difficult access. The land prices are also getting higher. For example, Zia had the opportunity to purchase land is the late 80’s. That land has doubled in cost since then. It looks like Zia has a few more years and then the future looks very grim. If we wait until we close down, we will have a number of problems. First, the land will have gone up in price and it will become scarcer. Second, it takes many years to purchase land and set up a range. It cannot be done in a short period of time. We need to get a new range and we need to do it now.

In order for this to become a reality, we need everyone to help fund this range! Please indicate how much money you would definitely be willing to loan the club for the purchase of land by placing the number of $500 increments in the box and sending the form back. Please provide your response no later than 11 April 2003.  It is VERY important we get your response by that date.  You can respond by either mailing this form to:
