Hunter Pistol Silhouette, Rimfire and Centerfire

Hunter pistol silhouette is a great way to hone your handgun marksmanship skills. The standard course of fire is 40 shots as follows:

  • 10 gallina targets at 25 meters
  • 10 javalina targets at 50 meters
  • 10 guajalote targets at 75 meters
  • 10 borrego targets at 100 meters

Revolvers, semi automatic and single-shot pistols are suitable for and compete together in hunter pistol. One of the great appeals of hunters pistol is the Any Sight rule, which make it possible for the shooter who can not see metallic sights clearly or has other eyesight limitations to use pistol scopes. Shots are fired in two strings of five shots each. Shooters are given a 15 second ready and 2 minutes to fire 5 shots.

Cost is 3 dollars per gun. All or most the match fees are returned to the shooters at the end of the match in awards for the winning teams.

Matches are held the 4th Sunday of the month. (check match calendar).   Set-up is at 0800 match starts at 0900. All Zia members and guests are welcome to shoot the match. Shooters are very patient. This is a great shoot for a young son or daughter. Handicapped shooters are also welcome.

The main goal of match is fun, friendship and camaraderie!
